I am using a lot of different lipsticks (including the ones with matte formulas). Therefore, I am always looking for a balm that can help to soothe, protect and moisturize my lips (better immediately).
Before Christmas, my Secret Santa gave me a lip set by EOS which includes Lip Balm & Lip Scrub. Let’s see how is it!
Design. The set is packed in a cute little carton box, with information about the products inside. On top of the box is some type or carton bend, which wraps around the package. When you take it away, you can see the blank space where you can write some words (it’s a gift set right?).
Inside the package, you can find Visibly Soft Coconut Milk Lip Balm & Guava Lip Scrub. The shape of the balm is pretty famous, it is an egg-shaped package which is rubberized; the scrub package is just a plastic jar (which I expected to be bigger).
Both products are made in the USA, the weight of the balm is 7 grams and the scrub is 6.3 grams. All ingredients are supposed to be natural.
Texture and applying. Well, the texture of the balm is medium-soft (though it does not melt while applying), but it’s good and there is no problem with the application. The balm is easily gliding on the lips, but to feel moisturized I usually apply several layers. The balm on the lips does not have any color or shine, the finish feels more matt. It can be applied under a lipstick due to the texture and finish.
The balm prevents the lips from chapping and moisturizes okay. It has a sweet flavor but I personally do not feel any coconut scent but it smells something sweet. The balm also has some sweet taste and at first, this sweet taste captivates but then it becomes very annoying and even irritating.
The scrub smells like guava and has a pink color in the jar. The texture looks quite thick in the jar, but on the lips it is melting and becomes oil. The scrubbing pieces are made from stevia leaf extract (almost sugar) and coconut shell powder, and they are pretty small and exfoliates gently. After removing the scrub, lips become visually soft and moisturized, also after removing one can feel some oil left. It is worth to note that for very dry or traumatized lips, the scrub won’t make any magic.
The balm winter duo gift set is possible to purchase for around 12 euros.
Overall, it is a good set which does make your lips look better, but I can not say it gives a prolonged effect. In the winter, it can help to protect your lips from winter wind and make it visibly softer but that’s probably it. For me, there is not enough moisturizing (especially after matt lipsticks) and I have better options to take care of my lips.
