Kris Marshall returned to our screens as DI Humphrey Goodman in 2023, but this time he'd swapped the sunny shores of Guadeloupe for the British coast. Beyond Paradise, the successful spinoff to BBC One's beloved Death in Paradise followed the detective as he and his fiancée Martha (Sally Breton) adjusted to life in the fictional town of Shipton Abbott in Devon.
Joined by other stars Dylan Llewellyn, Zahra Ahmadi, Felicity Montagu and more, the first season of the quirky mystery drama was a great success, and soon led to to it being commissioned for a second season.
However, fans perhaps hoping to catch a glimpse of the popular show filming its second season might be surprised to know that heading to Devon won't guarantee any sightings. Find out why below...
Where is Beyond Paradise filmed?
While Beyond Paradise is technically set in Devon, the show was mainly filmed in the neighbouring county of Cornwall. Back in 2022, Kris Marshall was spotted shooting scenes near a bridge in Looe town centre, before moving to the fire station. A picturesque fishing harbour famed for its beautiful beachfront, it's hardly surprising that this seaside town became a primary filming location.

The market town of Launceston, Cornwall also made an appearance in season one of the show, as did country estates Port Elliot House and Pentille Castle, Countryfile magazine reports. Speaking exclusively to HELLO! about the show's beautiful locations, actors Felicity Montagu and Dylan Llewellyn revealed what they got up to in between filming.
While the Derry Girls alum recalled that he and Zahra Ahmadi would kick back at the cinema, Felicity opened up about exploring the Cornish coastline. "I swam around some bays in Fowey and I did some walking," she said. "The countryside's just beautiful and the sea. The sea was so warm at the beginning of the job and then it got colder and colder!"
Reflecting on their time in Cornwall, she added, "We felt very blessed, didn't we Dylan?" to which he replied: "Definitely, it was lovely."

Although most scenes were filmed in Cornwall, last year locals also spotted the cast in some regions of Devon, including Tamar Valley, Bere Ferrers and Weir Quay.
Where is Beyond Paradise season two being filmed?
The second series of Beyond Paradise is expected to be being filmed in many of the same locations as season one. Therefore, we can expect the seafront and harbour of Looe to be making more appearances going forward.
Beyond Paradise season two's synopsis teases lots in store for DI Goodman, as "Shipton Abbott’s new detective inspector will be tasked with solving a shocking crime on a steam train, an arson attack predicted by a medium and the baffling disappearance of the local fishing legend."
