It’s Cornes v Cornes as Power meets Giants

KANE Cornes describes it as "strange and weird". Chad Cornes says it will be "really awkward".

For the first time in their illustrious careers the close-knit brothers - key members of Port Adelaide's 2004 premiership side - will tomorrow go head-to-head on a football field.

The Corneses, left, have played 491 AFL games between them.

But tomorrow's clash will have special meaning.

"We've never played against each other. It will be strange," Chad said.

Kane, who at age 29 is three years younger than Chad, last week overtook his brother for games played with Port.

The 27-point loss to Fremantle was his 240th match in Power colours. Chad played 239.

Kane said he was looking forward to locking horns with his role model and is braced for plenty of banter.

But he added he might find having a set shot at goal difficult.

"We used to have goalkicking competitions at (Port) training and try to put each other off," Kane told radio FIVEaa.

"Chad would always make me crack up laughing and distract me, so if I've got a (set) shot 30m out I'm sure Chad will run down and put me off."

Kane said while the experience of playing against Chad will be something to savour, he would not lose sight of the big picture.

"Our club needs a win, it's just a massive game for us to get our sixth win of the year and to play the way we want to play," he said.
